Position: Nursery Cook

Hours: Part-time

Contract: Permanent

About Bear Care

At Bear Care Children's Day Nurseries, we've been supporting families across Nottinghamshire since 1985, proudly operating as the longest-running nursery group in the county under the same ownership.

We know that nutrition is a key part of every child's wellbeing and development, which is why we prepare home-cooked, healthy meals on site, using fresh ingredients – and a big helping of love.

We're now looking for a warm, organised, and enthusiastic Nursery Cook to join our close-knit team and help us give every child the nourishment they need to grow, play and thrive.

About the Role

As our Nursery Cook, you'll be responsible for preparing daily meals and snacks for children aged 0–5, catering for a range of dietary needs, allergies and preferences. You'll be working in a happy, child-friendly environment where your role is valued and appreciated every single day.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

* Planning and preparing healthy, balanced meals and snacks in line with our menus
* Catering for allergies and dietary requirements (training provided if needed)
* Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
* Managing food stock, ordering supplies, and minimising waste
* Keeping accurate records in line with food safety and nursery policies
* Working closely with the nursery team to ensure mealtimes run smoothly
* Supporting the nursery's commitment to health, wellbeing and child development

What We're Looking For:

* Previous experience cooking in a professional or childcare setting preferred
* A genuine passion for cooking nutritious food for children
* Knowledge of food hygiene and safety procedures (Food Hygiene Level 2 or above desirable – we can support training if needed)
* Organised, efficient and confident working independently
* Friendly, positive attitude – you're part of the team too
* Understanding of dietary requirements and allergens (training available)

What You'll Get from Us:

* A warm, family-like working environment
* A supportive, long-standing team that values every role
* Regular hours – no evening or weekend shifts
* Free training and development opportunities
* Discounted childcare (if applicable)
* Competitive salary and holiday entitlement

Bear Care is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All staff are subject to enhanced DBS and reference checks in line with our safer recruitment procedures.
