A rewarding opportunity is available for graduates from Psychology, Humanities, or related fields to support pupils with complex learning needs in a specialist educational setting in Hackney. This role involves working closely with children who have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), sensory processing differences, communication challenges, and varied developmental profiles, including pupils who may present with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
Many pupils may be non-verbal, require structured routines, and benefit from highly individualised, multi-sensory learning approaches. Some may also have experienced early life trauma, influencing emotional regulation, attachment, and readiness to learn. Your role will focus on helping each child feel safe, understood, and supported so they can progress socially, emotionally, and academically.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to foster a calm, predictable, and inclusive environment. You will support pupils in both 1:1 and small-group contexts, promoting communication, independence, engagement, and self-regulation skills.
