We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Learning Designer to develop and enhance an IB Computer Science course curriculum for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP). This role will combine deep expertise in computer science with extensive experience in IB DP Computer Science to create engaging, rigorous, and student-centered learning experiences that align with IB standards and philosophies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Subject Matter Expertise:
* Design, develop, and refine computer science course content, ensuring alignment with IB frameworks, including the DP Computer Science syllabi.
* Provide subject matter expertise in computer science topics, algorithms, data structures, computational thinking, and emerging technologies.
* Create inquiry-based, student-centered learning materials that reflect familiarity with the DP’s emphasis on academic rigor, critical thinking, and holistic development.
2. Learning Design and Development:
* Develop AI processes to develop unit plans and lesson materials that foster inquiry-based learning, encouraging students to explore computational concepts through real-world problems, such as developing software solutions in DP.
* Design assessment generation prompts and outputs that align with DP Computer Science assessment components, including internal assessments (e.g., Solution development) and external exams (e.g., Papers 1–2 and Option topics).
* Use clear instructions, varied instructional strategies (e.g., visual aids, interactive coding platforms), and culturally relevant examples to engage students from diverse backgrounds.
3. Collaboration and Feedback:
* Collaborate with other instructional designers, the client’s educators, and stakeholders to ensure the course is relevant and impactful.
* Revise content based on feedback from the team.
* Work as a productive team member of a part of the global, cross-functional team.
Qualifications Required:
* Knowledge of computer science concepts, including programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++), algorithms, data structures, databases, and software development methodologies.
* Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely for educational purposes.
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field.
* Minimum of 3–5 years of experience teaching or designing curricula for IB DP Computer Science or related subjects. Proven track record of successful student outcomes in IB assessments.
Preferred:
IB Educator Network (IBEN) membership or certification (e.g., workshop leader, examiner, or consultant). Experience with integrating IB’s interdisciplinary units or service-learning components into computer science curricula.
