About the Role
Oxleas NHS Trust is looking to recruit Pharmacy Technicians to work within the Prison Service on a flexible basis. The role focuses on providing medicines management to prisoners, supporting the pharmacist, dispensing prescriptions, supervising assistants, ensuring stock control, and maintaining professional standards in an integrated health service.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a medicines optimisation service to the prison.
* Provide a medicines administration service to offenders at administration times as part of a 7‑day per week rota.
* Undertake medicines reconciliation for prisoners admitted to the prison.
* Supervise assistants in the dispensary while providing dispensing services.
* Act as an accredited checking technician providing final dispensing checks or medicines optimisation qualification.
* Ensure high standards of work in the dispensary, in clinics and when out on the wings, and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedure guidelines.
* Assist the Senior Prisons Technician with writing, updating and monitoring the use of medicines optimisation SOPs.
Requirements
Applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting in order to work in a Prison Setting. Applicants must supply:
* Proof of right to work documentation
* Proof of ID, including one photographic ID
* Proof of address documentation (5 years address history required)
* For non‑UK passport holders, proof of right to work and a Home Office shared code
* Additional police certificates as required for those with less than 5 years UK address history or those who have lived abroad for more than six months within the last three years.
