The role of Production Engineer at WB Leavesden Studio (WBSL) involves providing agile, hands‑on technical support for Warner Bros. Feature Productions, HBO, and WB TV Productions both on‑site and at remote locations. This position requires an experienced engineer to manage a wide spectrum of IT responsibilities, ensuring smooth operation and security of production technology environments.
This position primarily interacts with Production staff (crew, talent, and department leaders), external parties (e.g., hardware/software/service vendors), and other functional departments across the company (e.g., Physical Production, Studio Production, Animation, VFX, etc.)
Your Role Accountabilities
* Workstation/Server/Cloud Support – Provides support for production technologies including user onboarding/offboarding and access provisioning, installation & support of desktop applications including MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite and other content creation applications. Supports cloud storage including Box. Works with WBD and third‑party network engineers to troubleshoot production VLANs on the WB Leavesden studio lot and at remote production locations.
* Production Engineering – Participates in production technology orientation meetings. Collaborates with production crew and vendors to assist with smooth running of content workflows. Interacts with fellow engineers, and VFX and Post‑Production vendors as required, to securely incorporate applications, servers, and equipment into the production facility and/or network. Researches and tests new technologies considered for use; and deploys and monitors systems based on content security policies & best practices.
* Asset Lifecycle Management
* Documentation duties include updating policies, procedures, user guides, and logical network diagrams. Contributes to content protection, production technology policies, best practices, and BYOD policies, while keeping inventory records.
* Knowledge Management – Writes/updates process and workflow documentation including logical network diagrams for individual production networks. Helps develop and publish end‑user training material and maintains technical knowledge articles.
* Mobile Device Support – Installs, configures, deploys, and supports mobile hardware and OS, including virtual environments.
* Peripheral Device Support – Provides initial break/fix support for printers and scanners.
Qualifications & Experiences
* Proven ability in a second‑line IT support capacity.
* Previous experience in feature production environments across development, preparation, production, and post‑production phases.
* Knowledge of content protection and information security best practices.
* Must possess knowledge of desktop computing and virtualised environments running Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems; data storage and transfer fundamentals; and basic network infrastructure design and security best practices.
* Proficient in supporting cloud‑based applications including Office 365, Active Directory, Box, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
* Familiarity with Airtable is preferable.
* Understanding of Jamf and Intune would be beneficial.
* Hardware support experience includes Apple, and various PC laptops and desktops.
* Basic understanding of IP networking principles and topologies.
* Must have strong client‑service orientation and ability to prioritise work, anticipate needs, and maintain composure in a fast‑moving, demanding environment.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential as the engineer will sometimes be required to work independently.
* Flexibility in working hours, confidentiality, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally at short notice are mandatory. Must be able to travel within and outside the UK, often at short notice.
* UK driving licence essential.

This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD or your line manager reserves the right to change this working agreement, where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
