The Purpose
To assist the Discipline Lead in delivering the structural engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule, and cost. Responsible for managing the technical deliverables of the structural engineering packages in line with the planned deliverables agreed by the Discipline Lead. The role operates as part of the Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit.
Principal Tasks and Responsibilities
* Within SQEP profile, prepare and/or check designs, analyses, reports, drawings, specifications, and other documents supporting Nuclear and Non-Nuclear plant, facility, and equipment within the company's licensed, authorized, and operational sites, or supporting external contracts.
* Participate in solving technical problems and developing solutions for deficiencies or new designs.
* Support review and approval of new designs, construction methodologies, and temporary works submitted to the Technical Authority.
* Complete design work packages as assigned by the Lead Civil Engineer.
* Supervise and provide on-the-job guidance to junior staff.
* Utilize Learn from Experience information to develop and share theoretical knowledge related to practical engineering, maintaining a record of skills development.
* Support development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities to ensure compliance with design intent, DNSP's standards for Nuclear related Works, and relevant regulations and legislation.
* Assist in on-site inspection of DRDL assets during construction, maintenance, and modification.
* Maintain familiarity with DRDL procedures used within Facilities Engineering.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
* Experience in design and substantiation of heavy civil engineering and building structures to seismic codes for Nuclear Safety Functions; experience with dock structures is preferred.
* Knowledge of architectural design of industrial buildings.
* Understanding of building services design and installation.
* Experience with construction techniques for Nuclear Safety-related structures and buildings.
* Strong understanding of engineering design and safety practices relevant to the role.
* Knowledge of health and safety, design, and quality procedures within the company and department.
* A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
* Chartered Engineer status with the Engineering Council or working towards chartership.
