High-tech defence electronics SME require a Planning Manager to own, develop and implement SIOP and master scheduling processes and frameworks. Applicants need strategic planning experience across 3-5 year horizons within technical manufacturing or engineering environments and have deep expertise in master production planning and SIOP.
The Planning Manager will report to the Operations Director and collaborate closely with supply chain, operations, programme management, engineering, production and subcontract manufacturing partners to drive SIOP and master scheduling activities.
The manufacturing taking place in Basingstoke is a high product-mix, and low batch manufacturing volumes around 10-40 units per month. The Planning Manager will take an "Above The Line" approach to planning, looking at 3-5 year strategies, make vs. buy, and optimising inventory levels. Deputising for the Operations Director on occasions, the Planning Manager should posses leadership qualities, charism and gravitas.
Specific duties of The Planning Manager include:
Led, facilitate, introduce and develop SIOP / S&OP processes for the business
Create manage and implement a rolling 12-24 month master production schedule in accordance with customer demand
Capacity and Resource Planning - conduct analysis activities, optimise labour, resources and utilise subcontract partners
Develop and implement inventory management strategy in collaboration with Material Planner
Establish, create reports and KPIs to track performance of master production schedule and SIOP, S&OP.
Planning Manager applicants should meet the following criteria:
Master Scheduling, Senior Production Planning, SIOP, S&OP or Planning Manager experience
Previous experience of master scheduling and planning within a manufacturing or engineering business
Deep planning experience with MRP or ERP systems
Ability to thrive within an SME business, with relatively few processes, tools and planning infrastructure
Confident deputising for Operations Director with leadership qualities
Comfortable with hybrid working (if desired), after the initial bedding-in period
