Head of Transactional Finance

Robert Half are supporting an international professional services company, with offices based in the West Midlands, as they look to appoint a dynamic Head of Transactional Finance to lead large teams across Accounts Payable, Banking, Cash Management, and Credit Control. This senior role will take ownership of delivering efficient, compliant, and high-quality services while building a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

The Opportunity
In this role, you'll sit within the senior leadership team and be responsible for the overall performance and direction of transactional services. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders, driving operational effectiveness and ensuring client and business expectations are consistently exceeded.
What You'll Do
1. Lead and inspire teams to deliver accurate, timely and efficient finance services.
2. Ensure robust compliance with legislation, audit standards, and internal controls.
3. Oversee payment processes, credit management and cash operations across a large client base.
4. Act as a trusted escalation point for complex issues, providing clear solutions.
5. Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and ways of working.
6. Lead change initiatives, system implementations, and other strategic projects.
7. Deliver against agreed KPIs and service levels, ensuring exceptional standards are met.
8. Develop and mentor senior managers, strengthening leadership capability across the function.
About You
We're looking for someone with a strong mix of technical knowledge and leadership expertise:
9. Experienced in managing large finance operations or shared service centres.
10. Skilled in overseeing high-volume transactions, client money, and financial controls.
11. Strong background in Accounts Payable, Credit Control, Banking and Cash operations.
12. Proven ability to reduce aged debt and improve payment processes.
13. Excellent leadership skills - able to motivate, mentor and retain top-performing teams.
14. Strong communicator, confident working with stakeholders at senior level.
15. Commercially focused with a solutions-driven mindset.
