Low Intensity/Education Mental Health Practitioner/CWP

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

Lincoln, Louth, and Gainsborough have an exciting opportunity within our Mental Health Support Teams (MHST), based in the Gainsborough Team and supporting NHS and Education-approved sites across these areas.

You must have the appropriate qualifications and be affiliated with BPS or BABCP. This is not a trainee role. We are looking for an experienced and supportive colleague to join our team. You will have access to clinical skills, supervision, and peer support. We provide support across schools and educational sites in Lincoln, Louth, and Gainsborough, so access to a car or transportation is necessary.

The role involves delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people in educational settings with mild to moderate mental health issues, helping those with more severe problems access specialist services quickly, supporting staff in education settings to identify and manage mental health and wellbeing issues, working within education environments to improve access to specialist mental health services, and using your skills and knowledge to deliver a service that complements existing initiatives within these environments.

The Mental Health Support Teams are jointly delivered by NHS and Department of Education and are sited. They aim to provide CBT informed early interventions for mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing issues.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing training and support to staff in the designated school or college setting, and assisting schools in adopting a comprehensive approach to promoting good mental health and positive emotional wellbeing.

Mental Health Support Teams will serve as a link with CAMHS, and CBT supervision will be offered to the MHSTs by the CBT Therapist and Supervisor, as well as other CBT-trained CAMHS professionals as appropriate.

Working for our organisation

You could be part of a Trust rated by staff as one of the best mental health and learning disability trusts in England. We firmly believe the key to high quality care is a contented workforce. This is reflected in our Care Quality Commission rating of ‘outstanding’ for well-led and ‘good’ overall. In the most recent National NHS Staff Survey, our staff rated us as the number one trust nationally for staff morale and one of the top scoring NHS Trusts in the Midlands for being compassionate and inclusive.

We offer options for flexible working and provide a wide range of training and promotion opportunities in all professions. We support and celebrate diversity, have active staff networks groups and are always looking at what more we can do to support our staff.
