Cost Analyst
Full time 37 hours per week (flexible arrangements, part time considered)
Permanent, up to £42,000 per year (depending on experience)
Hybrid working with office location at Pity Me, Durham
We have a new opportunity for a Cost Analyst to join our Programme Management Office. The role reports to the Cost and Database Engineer and ensures projects and programmes at Northumbrian Water comply with best practice, driving our cost maturity through early cost identification, robust analysis and assessment.
Responsibilities
Analyse cost data for population of the Company’s capex scoping and cost estimating system (iMod) and manage the costing engine within iMod.
Carry out analysis of NWL costing data in line with QA procedures, upload data into costing price databases to an agreed structure.
Liaise with suppliers and capital project delivery teams to collect and analyse unit cost, rate and carbon data for the costing price database.
Take responsibility for updating database records ensuring they are robust and statistically valid for costing purposes.
Analyse project cost data to work breakdown structure and upload to corporate cost database, identifying and working with suppliers to fill in any data gaps.
Maintain and monitor the project cost data information control sheet and liaise with delivery teams to ensure all required information is received.
Qualifications
Part‑qualified in an Engineering, QS or Financial discipline, or equivalent experience.
Experience in cost analysis, quantity surveying, engineering or operational role with a clear commitment to continuous improvement.
Understanding of cost analysis processes and knowledge of price databases, coding structures and product catalogues (e.g., CESMM and MEICA measurement rules).
Familiarity with asset hierarchies and structure including locations, site and process classes and ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs and works information at different stages of a project.
Ability to interrogate systems, analyse and interpret data outputs, reconcile tenders and final measurement documentation.
Awareness of PowerBI and ability to provide reporting for stakeholders.
Customer focused with excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with internal customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Additional Requirements
This role requires a DBS check prior to employment.
