Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Daventry to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA). The role involves supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4, working with pupils who may require additional help with their learning due to Special Educational Needs (SEN), learning difficulties, SEMH needs, or other barriers to learning. Support may be provided on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or within whole-class settings, depending on student needs and lesson requirements.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school's SEN department to help students access the curriculum, remain engaged in lessons, and develop confidence and independence. You will support learning activities, reinforce classroom instruction, and help students develop effective study skills, organisation, and positive behaviour for learning.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting students with additional learning needs in lessons across a range of subjects
Assisting teachers in delivering inclusive and accessible learning
Providing targeted academic and pastoral support
Helping students manage behaviour, emotions, and social interactions
Monitoring progress and contributing to student support strategies
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working with children or young people (school-based experience desirable but not essential)
Show patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
Be reliable, adaptable, and proactive in a busy school environment
Have strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
Be passionate about education and supporting young people to succeed
