Derby City Council Children’s Services are seeking a People Support Assistant to provide administrative support to Social Care and Multi Agency Teams at the Stanley Road site in Alvaston.
Previous experience in an administrative or customer support role, particularly within a local authority or public sector environment, is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided
We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic and self‑motivated individual to provide comprehensive administrative support within a busy team

The Opportunity
In the role of People Support Assistant, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
• provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the team, including handling enquiries by telephone and email and greeting visitors at Reception.
• maintain accurate records and filing systems, including electronic databases
• assist with general office tasks such as incoming and outgoing post, photocopying and data entry.
• building safety tasks, including carrying out and recording basic fire safety checks and helping to maintain a safe working environment
• always handle sensitive information in line with Council confidentiality and data protection requirements, maintaining accurate and secure records.
• manage busy electronic calendars, including scheduling and coordinating availability.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have…
• experience of providing administrative support in a busy office environment
• good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to respond politely and patiently to service users
• strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
• confident using Microsoft Office packages, including Word and Excel, to produce, update and maintain a range of documents and spreadsheets
