Secondary School Teaching Assistant

Pay: From £110 per day
We are recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across Preston and the surrounding areas from September 2026. Opportunities are available in a variety of settings, including schools in Fulwood, Penwortham, Bamber Bridge, Longridge, Leyland and other nearby areas.
These roles include both general classroom support positions and dedicated 1:1 support roles for pupils with additional needs. Whether you have previous school-based experience or have worked with children and young people in another setting, we would be keen to hear from you.
The Role
* Supporting teachers in delivering lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment.
* Providing general classroom support across a range of subjects.
* Working on a 1:1 basis with students who require additional support.
* Assisting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to access learning.
* Encouraging student engagement, confidence and progress.
* Supporting students' social, emotional and academic development.
What We're Looking For
* Experience working in a school setting, or
* Experience working with children or young people in a relevant role such as youth work, sports coaching, tutoring, mentoring, residential care or community support.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* A patient, supportive and adaptable approach.
* The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
Desirable Experience
* Supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
* Working with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
* Experience delivering 1:1 interventions or targeted support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
