EP Group – Purchasing Director
EP Group is an award winning, global packaging manufacturer with production facilities across Europe and Southeast Asia.
Our global headquarters in Birmingham is home to our dedicated paper manufacturing division providing a wide range of food packaging products for the likes of McDonalds, Amazon, Marks & Spencer and Greggs.
We are now seeking a Purchasing Director to be based on site here in Birmingham to manage the Purchasing, Stock Control and Quality Assurance departments to ensure full compliance in line with the overall Company objectives.
Key Responsibilities – Purchasing Director
* Management of each team to drive business strategy.
* Drive cost saving initiatives – develop programme of initiatives with Category Managers through product reengineering, innovation and supplier development to deliver cost savings.
* Manage supplier selection.
* Extensive travel to the global supply base (minimum of 8 visits per annum to Far East and 6 visits within Europe).
* Develop and build strong personal relationships with the owners of our strategic global partners.
* Provision of input to go no go customer decisions – overseeing procurement / stock management/ QA involvement.
* Approval of purchase orders in line with SAP release authorisation.
* Approval of Quick base enquiries.
* Drive stock reduction whilst maintaining availability in line with agreed service levels.
* Target reduction of current stock lines within 'SLOBS' category.
* Ensure full group compliance of waste legislation obligations.
* Ensure full compliance with the relevant BRC standard and customer standards.
* Ensure full compliance with relevant Ethical standards.
* Drive best practice process throughout each department.
* Staff development / mentoring / recruitment.
Key Requirements – Purchasing Director
* Experience within a Purchasing and Stock management role.
* Experience within packaging, retail or FMCG would be a distinct advantage.
* Experience of global purchasing including from SE Asia.
* Strategic approach to sourcing.
* Proven track record of delivering results in sourcing.
* Strong communication / stakeholder management skills.
* Internal and external stakeholder engagement skills.
* Commercially focused.
* Skilled negotiator. Hands on approach to face to face negotiations with Supply base.
* Strong team leader.
* Member of IPS (Institute of Purchasing and Supply).
* Knowledge of MRP systems.
* Basic working knowledge of SAP.
