The Falls Prevention Team - Worthing is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic Occupational Therapist and/or Physiotherapist to reduce the incidence and consequences of falls across West Sussex. This post will form part of a dynamic team delivering specialist assessment and tailored rehabilitation programmes to those who have, or are at risk of falling.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with clients and their families alongside a range of services, both statutory and non statutory, to reduce falls and maximise health, wellbeing and independence.

When required the post holder will provide tailored training sessions to a range of audiences across statutory and non statutory agencies improving the prevention and management of falls across the whole system.

Job responsibilities

This post provides a unique opportunity to work as a multi-disciplinary practitioner to provide a holistic service to our clients in the relevant locality within Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. We are presented with a wide range of conditions and there will be scope to develop your knowledge and interests in the areas of vestibular rehabilitation, falls rehabilitation for neurological clients, and anxiety management amongst other therapeutic interventions. There is also opportunity to develop expertise in balance exercise groups and in leadership skills.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Qualified Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist - degree or equivalent (diploma)
* Postural Stability trained or willingness to train


Experience

* Autonomous practice working
* Delivering training (patients and professionals) in groups
* Managing / supervising others
* Experience of working with this client group
* Interagency working
* Experience of working in a healthcare environment
* Working within a multi-disciplinary team


Skills and knowledge

* To have extensive knowledge of issues, guidelines, policy and best practice in relation to falls prevention and management
* High standards of communication skills, both written and verbal
* Understanding of the role of other NHS bodies as well as partner agencies both statutory, independent and voluntary sectors
* Up to date knowledge on current falls/fracture prevention research
* Ability to organise and prioritise work
* IT literate including skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint
* Understanding of whole systems working
* Experience of chairing/facilitating meetings
* Systmone trained

* Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work streams
* Willingness to work flexible hours and travel within team locality
* Self-motivation and enthusiastic
* A good team player
* Own transport and a current/ valid driving license
