We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced teacher to join our Deaf and Hearing Support Team in September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. We are a friendly and motivated team who are committed to supporting deaf children and their families. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team including Educational Audiologist, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Qualified Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People and Specialist Support Workers. The team benefits from being part of our wider Sensory Team and the Specialist SEND and Inclusion Service.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
You will be supporting deaf CYP within schools in County Durham as well as supporting preschool children and their families in home settings. You may hold an outreach caseload or be based within an Enhanced Provision.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
Essential qualifications for this role are:
* Qualified Teacher Status
* Mandatory qualification in the teaching of deaf CYP (QToD) or willingness to complete mandatory qualification over a 2-year period.
You should have significant experience of working with deaf children and young people and/or children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. It would be advantageous if you had experience of working across both mainstream and specialist provisions. Candidates should hold the Mandatory Qualification for teaching deaf children and young people or be willing to undertake training. BSL experience and qualifications are desirable, and you should be willing to undertake training in BSL.
