Job Summary
We are seeking a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our assembly shop team. The role involves the preparation, assembly, and finishing of high-quality furniture. Applicants should have previous experience in flat-pack furniture assembly or, preferably, woodwork.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble wooden furniture and other wood-based products to a high standard, ensuring precision, quality, and attention to detail.
Follow the full production process from preparation to final assembly:
1. Preparation: Insert cams, dowels, and other fittings into the correct wooden components, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
2. Building: Assemble prepped components into complete carcasses such as wardrobes, desks, lockers, beds, and bespoke wooden projects.
3. Second Fix: Fit doors, drawers, hinges, locks, runners, and other hardware to finish and quality-check completed furniture.
Read and interpret technical drawings, assembly paperwork, and measurements accurately to ensure precise builds.
Confidently and safely operate hand and power tools (e.g., drills, screwdrivers, sanders) and measuring equipment such as tape measures and squares.
Handle and move wooden panels and components safely — including heavier items — throughout the production process.
Work collaboratively with colleagues in a fast-paced workshop environment, supporting multiple production stages as needed.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace, following all company health and safety procedures.
Meet tight production schedules while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship and attention to quality.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
Proven experience in woodwork assembly, carpentry, or furniture manufacturing.
Strong practical skills in assembling wooden products using hand and power tools.
Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, cut lists, and measurements.
Physically capable of lifting and handling large or heavy wooden panels safely and efficiently.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a joinery, cabinetmaking, or wood manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of cam and dowel construction, traditional woodworking joints, and hardware fitting techniques.
Hours of Work:
Monday - Friday.
8am - 16.30pm
Rate of Pay:
£12.21 - £13 per hour.
