We have a very exciting role working as a Category Assistant / Product Support for an established global electronics company on a hybrid basis. You will need to be within commuting distance of their Hertfordshire-based offices.
This Category Assistant / Associate Product role offers a salary of £30-£35k, plus a discretionary 10% bonus, 25 days holiday, and 8 bank holidays, increasing with length of service.
Ideal candidates will have a background in buying, product support, or category assistance within a commercial environment. You should be a confident communicator capable of writing clear presentations. Experience with data analysis and a keen eye for detail are essential. An interest in technology is helpful but not necessary, as full product training will be provided. Commercial awareness, resilience, and excellent communication skills are highly relevant.
While primarily a hybrid role working from home, there will be a requirement to attend the office 2-3 days a week, especially during training. Occasional travel across the UK or abroad to attend trade shows may also be required.
A full UK driving license and a vehicle are desirable but not essential if you live within a commutable distance of the office.
The responsibilities of the Assistant Buyer / Category Assistant / Associate Product Manager include:
1. Transforming product value propositions into inspiring pitches supported by technology trends and channel guidance from the Product Manager, enabling sales to confidently secure placements for new products.
2. Conducting competitor reviews and research to benchmark products in terms of price, creative execution, and product portfolio breadth.
3. Performing market analysis and assisting in forecasting technology trends.
4. Managing the product lifecycle process.
5. Maintaining product management master files such as catalogues and presentations, and updating tools like Monday.com, Workfront, and Agile.
6. Working with Excel and PowerPoint, and delivering presentations confidently.
7. Supporting the NPI launch process by creating forecast documents and reviewing inputs with the Product Manager and Demand Planner.
8. Collaborating with marketing and the product manager to build campaign briefs, proofread packaging and marketing materials to highlight key product and technology points.
9. Testing development samples and distributing final samples to sales regions, supporting product demonstrations for training if needed.
10. Supporting sales with technical product information for customer setups.
11. Assisting in preparing strategic business unit presentations, trade shows, customer meetings, and business reviews.
