ABOUT THE JOB
As a Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for the overall look and feel of allocated magazine/book title(s). You will work alongside a design team of three graphic designers and collaborate daily with photographers, editors and our product designers to ensure all products are produced to the highest standard.
Additionally, you will be involved with designing other forms of company literature, Advertisements, Video editing and digital design on ad hoc basis.
Key responsibilities:
· Design and layout pages for given title(s), to a high-quality standard
· Set and maintain the title's overall visual style, keeping up to date with current trends and competitor activity. Develop innovative design elements to ensure that the magazine doesn't become stale
· Set brand guidelines to cover, but not limited to; design elements, fonts, colours, photography & packaging and keep these up-to-date and accessible to relevant departments
· Establish design templates so that the magazine always has a consistent and recognisable look, no matter who lays out the pages
· Redesign the magazine for re-launch when required
· Collaborate with product designers to develop product designs and produce e-commerce assets that showcase products effectively.
· Work with photographers on the style and format of shots required and feedback to maintain quality
· Attend magazine review meetings, propose and discuss any design and layout ideas or changes with the editor and other colleagues and implement any agreed changes
· Research, prepare for and attend competitor review meetings to ensure that all PPI titles are of the highest quality
· Complete all housekeeping tasks in a timely manner and in line with the procedure handbook
· Ensure you keep up to date with the procedure handbook and adhere to the processes and guidelines outlined.
With that in mind the ideal candidate must have the following skills and experience:
· A minimum of 1 to 2 years design experience on layouts
· Knowledge of effective commercial design
· Excellent Adobe Indesign, Photoshop & Illustrator skills
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to work both individually and as part of a team
· A portfolio of work that demonstrates your design skills
· Some technical knowledge of print and production
· Working in a fast-paced environment to a variety of briefs
· Attention to detail and the ability to produce work to a consistently high standard
Other desirable experiences:
· Knowledge and experience of using AI software within any type of design.
· Experience in video editing using Adobe After effects, Adobe Premiere or Canva
· Any web design experience
