Job Description
Senior Forensic Engineers are involved in a wide variety of tasks, including forensic investigations of residential, commercial, and/or mixed-use buildings, code research and construction document review, failure analysis, scope of repair preparation, and report writing. These activities are generally performed for insurance property claims and construction defect litigation matters. Senior Forensic Engineers have cultivated a strong client following and excel at ongoing business development.
Business Development, Leadership, Management
* Support the assigned Director in meeting or exceeding the annual budget for the practice area/practice division, including resource management, oversight of engagement workstreams, and client communication.
* Manage and lead execution of new accounts, support retention and expansion of existing engagements to meet sales goals.
* Delegate assignments, monitor progress, and ensure high-quality work.
* Support proactive monitoring of data such as utilization, accounts receivable, and discretionary spending.
* Achieve individual utilization and revenue targets as set by leadership.
* Manage, mentor, and develop a team, fostering an empowered and effective culture.
* Assist with business development activities and client communications.
* Travel regionally to support client and team needs.
* Maintain quality control of service delivery and uphold a reputation for quality.
* Escalate operational or client challenges promptly to the Director.
Operations
* Conduct forensic inspections of residential and commercial property damage claims and construction or design defect claims.
* Assess the condition of structures for buyers, sellers, or tenants.
* Inspect structures to prevent future claims/losses.
* Research causes of failures related to building design or construction.
* Develop remediation plans, including scope and schedule.
* Create detailed investigative reports for management and clients.
* Lead business development activities and client presentations.
* Provide expert witness testimony for litigation cases.
* Support strategic planning and cross-functional team building.
* Manage projects in compliance with contracts and regulations.
* Ensure high-quality deliverables.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Geotechnical, etc.) or relevant advanced degrees.
* Minimum 7 years’ industry experience.
* Professional Engineering (PE) license in multiple states.
* Proven experience in client relationship management and staff development.
* Strong leadership skills.
* Ability to operate a 24-foot extension ladder, work on roofs, and in tight spaces.
Knowledge & Skills
* Strong knowledge of IRC, IBC, IEBC codes.
* Understanding of structural framing and foundation components.
* Knowledge of building envelope components.
* Experience reviewing technical deliverables.
* Effective communication skills.
* Leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
* Ability to handle multiple priorities under stress.
* Proficiency with standard software (Word, Excel, Adobe).
Additional Information
The annualized base pay range for this role is $130k-170k.
