Critical Data Centre M&E Engineer – Bath

Hours: Continental Shift Pattern (12-hour days and nights)
Our client, a global data centre services organization, is seeking multiple shift engineers for a critical data centre in Bath. The role involves routine and reactive maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems in a highly critical environment, ensuring 100% uptime for co-located servers housing major organizations.
Responsibilities include:
* Operate and maintain M&E systems, including HV electrical operations, and recommend improvements.
* Ensure compliance of specialist subcontractors with SOPs.
* Perform daily emergency callouts and complete logs and RAMS.
* Apply risk-focused maintenance and operations in critical environments.
* Ensure all client services and systems meet requirements.
* Provide emergency standby and escalate issues as per SLA.
* Support technical audits and maintain records of maintenance activities.
* Supervise contractors when required.
* Conduct electrical work, including lighting, wiring, alarms, BMS, and heat exchangers.
* Demonstrate knowledge of AHU, FCU, UPS, generators, LV systems, troubleshooting skills.
* Assess risks and contribute to safety improvements.
* Support operational delivery alongside the Shift Leader.
Requirements:
* Trade trained with at least 3 years’ experience in building services.
* City & Guilds Electrical Level 3 qualification.
* Experience on critical sites such as data centres or banking facilities.
* Strong knowledge of building services.
* Leadership ability under pressure, with effective communication skills.
* Willingness to undertake training and possibly stay overnight for plant/system training.
