National Highways has an excellent opportunity for a Drainage Engineer to join our Drainage team in the Midlands region. You will be responsible for identifying and evaluating asset data and needs, developing early solutions, and designing highway renewals and maintenance schemes.
Location
This position will be based in Birmingham or Nottingham with a mix of remote and office work. You will need to travel to Nottingham twice a week.
Base Pay
External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will receive pay in accordance with our established policy.
Responsibilities
* Develop early solutions for drainage improvements and/or renewals, including compiling relevant documents and evidence for value management.
* Ensure asset data and condition information is captured and maintained in the relevant database(s) to agreed standards and timelines.
* Identify and prepare briefs, and support delivery of survey works that support the improvement and renewal of drainage assets.
* Develop technical briefs for external design services contractors for improvement and renewal work.
* Design highway renewal and maintenance schemes for drainage assets.
Qualifications
* Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering (or similar) with vocational experience in a drainage or highways setting.
* Knowledge and experience of promoting drainage renewal schemes/projects within budgets.
* Familiarity with Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and CDM 2015 regulations.
* Knowledge of highway drainage maintenance techniques and mitigation methods.
* Valid driving licence; no more than 3 points on your licence.
