Overview
Do you have a passion for the coast? Do you have the desire to deliver? We have an exciting opportunity for a Coastal Engineer to join our Coastal Service. The post holder will support delivery of the Council’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) services across a varied and challenging coastline.
Responsibilities
* Plan, design, procure and supervise coastal engineering maintenance works programmes.
* Act as the main point of contact for minor in‑house coastal maintenance undertaken by NFDC Engineering Works team.
* Contribute to the coastal capital programme and provide technical support across the Coastal Service.
* Support delivery of the Hurst Spit to Lymington Strategy and implement the Christchurch Bay & Harbour FCERM Strategy.
About You
* Solid experience working in coastal environments and a good understanding of FCERM activities and procedures.
* Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental or engineering discipline.
* Sound contract management knowledge and a practical problem‑solving approach.
* Strong IT skills, including AutoCAD and GIS.
* Accurate record‑keeping and effective communication.
* Good interpersonal skills and proven stakeholder engagement.
* Suitable experience of (coastal) engineering maintenance works, including site supervision.
* Experience of Environment Agency business case development and partnership investment strategies desirable.
