Reports to: Engineering Manager
Location: Multiple Oxford sites (travel required)
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 8am - 5pm
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000

Key Responsibilities of the Repair and Maintenance Technician
1. Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across a variety of mechanical, electrical, and building systems to ensure optimal performance.
2. Diagnose faults, repair equipment and machinery, and deliver effective, timely solutions to minimise downtime.
3. Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to current health, safety, and environmental regulations and company standards.
4. Keep accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
5. Work closely with internal teams to identify maintenance requirements and support continuous improvement of operations.
6. Participate in the on-call rota and provide emergency out-of-hours support when required.
7. Support the installation, modification, and commissioning of new systems and equipment.
8. Conduct routine inspections and monitor equipment performance to identify potential issues before they impact operations.
9. Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment at all times.
About You
10. Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering, or a relevant technical certification (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or similar).
11. Broad understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems.
12. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to carry out efficient repairs.
13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
14. High attention to detail, ensuring all maintenance tasks meet exceptional quality standards.
15. Flexible, proactive attitude with the ability to adapt to changing workloads and respond to unexpected issues.
16. Ability to work independently with strong time-management skills and the capacity to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
17. Willingness to take part in the on-call rota and respond to out-of-hours emergencies within an approximate one-hour response time.
18. Valid driver’s licence may be required depending on site needs.
19. Experience working in laboratory environments or high-specification commercial buildings is highly desirable.

20. Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and other automated control systems.
