Maintenance Engineer vacancy in Essex
Leo Recruits are in search of an experienced Maintenance Engineer for a busy fresh produce facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience maintaining industrial equipment, knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems, and a strong understanding of health and safety compliance in a production or distribution environment.

About the Maintenance Engineer Role:
* Location: Essex
* Salary: £35,000
* Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
* Shifts: 4 on 4 off – Site-Based Role
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, monitor and carry out repairs and maintenance on company equipment, machinery, and buildings
* Effectively manage the site’s Preventative Maintenance Programme
* Troubleshoot and maintain a wide range of electro-mechanical machinery, including packaging lines and ripening rooms
* Respond swiftly and efficiently to breakdowns to minimize downtime
* Conduct risk assessments and ensure all work complies with Health & Safety and engineering legislation
* Maintain and update an asset register for internal systems
* Support hygiene standards and ensure compliance with statutory inspections
* Liaise with contractors and supervise their work where necessary
* Recommend safety and performance improvements
* Report misuse of machinery or equipment to the Maintenance Manager
* Support with building maintenance and facility checks as required
Requirements:
* Proven experience in maintenance engineering, ideally in a food production or distribution environment
* Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Flexibility to work shift patterns (4 on 4 off)
* Commitment to safe working practices and legislative compliance
* Willingness to undertake training (e.g., Electrical Safety, First Aid, Fire Warden, MEWP, FLT, etc.)
