Clinical Research Nurse – Band 6 – HIV Research
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join the HIV Research Team at the Harrison Wing, Guy’s and St Thomas Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support the HIV Clinical Trials team, helping to expand our portfolio of HIV studies, by linking closely with our outpatient HIV service.
You will coordinate various clinical trials and research projects. This includes recruiting participants into clinical trials/research studies, data collection and cleaning, managing patient care, and Site File maintenance. Experience working in HIV/Sexual Health, or research will be advantageous.
The ideal candidate will have worked in an NHS setting and have knowledge of Good Clinical Practice as it relates to Research. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will possess good timekeeping and prioritisation skills and be willing to learn and develop within the role.

You will be working alongside leaders in the field of HIV Research and will have close links with academics through Kings College London (KCL).

Knowledge / Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. RN1 / RN2 Registered Nurse
2. Degree/ Diploma in Nursing
Desirable criteria
3. GCP certificate
4. Evidence of continuing professional development
Experience
Essential criteria
5. Experience of working as a qualified nurse with previous NHS experience at least as a band 5 for 3 years
6. Experience in Clinical Research
7. Experience of effective multidisciplinary team working
8. Experience teaching, assessing and supervising others in clinical setting
Desirable criteria
9. Post registration experience in HIV or Sexual Health
10. Experience of electronic data capture.
Skills
Essential criteria
11. Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with complex and sensitive situations
12. Awareness of clinical governance and risk management relevant to the role
13. Ability to co-ordinate and organise activities in order to deliver study protocol
14. Proficient to conduct clinical tasks such as blood pressure, venepuncture and cannulation, serial sampling, temperature, pulse, respiratory observations and ECG.
15. Ability to process biologic samples according to protocols.
16. Competency in medication administration including IV drugs.
