Aviation Machinist Job Description

This role involves providing support to aircraft technicians, enabling them to work efficiently in their duties. The machinist will operate machine tools such as lathes and milling machines to cut and produce precision parts, instruments, production jigs, and bespoke tooling.

* The successful candidate will calculate dimensions and tolerances using instruments such as micrometres and Vernier callipers.
">
* Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
">
* Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
">
* Set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools and specialized or advanced variations of tools to perform precision machining operations.
">
">
Key Responsibilities:
">

* Study sample parts, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
">
* Re-grinding of various drills and reamers to suit demand.
">
* Adaption of existing tools to suit requirements.
">
* Good housekeeping, maintaining cleanliness in the workshop.
">
* Adhering to company and manufacturers policies and procedures.
">
">
Requirements and Qualifications:
">
">
1. A time served toolmaker with strong conventional machining experience.
">
2. Accurate and pragmatic with a good understanding of jigs and fixtures.
">
3. General machining skills, milling, turning, surface grinding etc.
">
4. Knowledge of XYZ programming using lathe and milling machine.
">
5. Adaptable, with the ability to 'think outside the box'.
">
6. Able to work with minimal supervision.
">
7. Knowledge of various materials and market products to achieve the desired results.
">
8. To liaise together with the shop floor personnel with the purpose of design and production of shop aids to facilitate ease of modification to air systems.
">
9. To promote safe working practices and work within Company procedures.
">
10. Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
">
11. Knowledge of MS Office applications.
">
12. Eligible to work and live in the UK.
">
13. Subject to UK security Vetting.
