Overview
The inpatient respiratory team at Victoria Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated physiotherapist with clinical and leadership skills to work across critical care, respiratory, surgical and paediatric wards. There is also a small commitment to respiratory outpatients.
Responsibilities
* Possess a strong depth of knowledge, understanding and management of a wide range of common and complex respiratory and surgical presentations.
* Be capable of jointly leading the provision and training for the weekend and overnight on‑call service.
* Require knowledge and recent expertise of complex discharge planning in an acute hospital setting with highly developed MDT communication skills.
* Identify, act and lead on quality improvement, clinical audit, in‑service training and evidence‑based practice.
* Hold responsibility for a number of Band 5 and Band 4 staff; previous experience of staff supervision is essential.
* Be actively involved with undergraduate and postgraduate education as part of the department’s commitment to training the next generation of clinicians.
* Engage with weekend working and support a dynamic approach to work patterns, including flexible working and selective home working for non‑clinical work.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Strong respiratory and surgical clinical knowledge with ability to manage complex presentations.
* Experience in leading on‑call services and complex discharge planning.
* Demonstrated staff supervision experience.
* Commitment to quality improvement, clinical audit, evidence‑based practice.
* Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme prior to appointment.
* Right to work in the UK, with evidence of appropriate visa, settled or pre‑settled status.
* Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and overnight shifts.
Employment Terms
As of 1/4/26, the agenda for change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will ensure pay is not affected. Salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours.
