SEND Classroom Support Location: Peterlee Working hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm (Monday to Friday) Contract type: Long term, immediate start Leader Education is excited to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Support Assistant to join the welcoming and highly supportive team at a well-established SEND school. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a well-established specialist school that provides exceptional education and care for children and young people aged 2–19. The school supports learners with a diverse range of special educational needs, including complex learning difficulties, autism, communication needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, and physical disabilities. Committed to delivering inclusive, personalised, and high-quality education, the school fosters a safe and nurturing environment where every child and young person is valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Essential: Experience supporting children or young people (ideally within an SEND setting). A strong understanding of additional needs and inclusive practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Desirable: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Experience supporting pupils with autism or complex needs. Knowledge of alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton. Relevant training in safeguarding, first aid, or behaviour support.
