Overview
Consultant Psychiatrist in Forensic Psychiatry role at The Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan. This position is part of Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and involves working in the forensic service at Alpine ward, Brockfield House, Wickford.
Responsibilities
* Provide consistent, high-quality medical leadership to Alpine ward (a 13-bed male secure service) supporting male patients requiring medium secure inpatient care.
* Conduct assessments and provide liaison with general adult services, the Criminal Justice Service, and act as a forensic gatekeeper for the East of England Specialist Commissioners.
* Contribute to clinical governance within the Trust and participate in development of the Secure Service at Brockfield House.
* Maintain productive relationships with MDT colleagues (forensic social work, psychology, occupational therapy, etc.) and with external agencies such as general adult psychiatrists, forensic psychiatrists from the Medium Secure Service, and Criminal Justice Teams.
* Attend weekly referrals meetings and two monthly PDP meetings, contributing to discussions and occasional presentations.
* Liaise with Commissioners and the regional Provider Collaborative regarding gatekeeping assessments and bed management meetings.
* Undertake gatekeeping assessments; where required, obtain forensic psychology or nursing support; manage patients with forensic needs in the community through general adult or specialist community forensic services.
* Undertake any other duties as delegated by the director or chief executive consistent with the post.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register, with Forensic Psychiatry CCT or equivalent, or be within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of appointment.

Additional notes
The post involves no community forensic outreach work. The post holder will be expected to attend meetings with the Ministry of Justice and participate in gatekeeping assessments as part of the patient care pathway. The post holder will be Section 12 Approved and will prepare reports and attend Managers Hearings and Tribunals as required.
