Role:
An opportunity has arisen to join an expanding Payroll team as a Payroll Officer. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced payroll professional who is confident managing end-to-end payroll processes while also contributing to the continuous improvement of payroll services and systems.
You will manage payroll for a varied portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a high standard of client service at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Process end-to-end payroll for multiple clients on weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles
2. Accurately calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and statutory payments
3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records
4. Ensure full compliance with payroll legislation, PAYE, NI, pensions, and employment regulations
5. Prepare and submit statutory payroll filings and reports
6. Manage starters, leavers, payroll amendments, and year-end processes
7. Respond to payroll queries and provide clear, professional advice to clients
8. Reconcile payroll reports and support audits where required
9. Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee data
10. Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and service delivery
The Successful Candidate:
11. Minimum of 3 years’ payroll experience, ideally within a payroll bureau or professional services environment
12. Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory compliance
13. Experience using payroll software such as BrightPay, Sage, Xero, or similar
14. Highly accurate with excellent attention to detail
15. Strong organisational and time-management skills, able to manage multiple deadlines
16. Confident communicator with a professional and client-focused approach
17. Competent in Microsoft Excel and Office 365
Desirable Qualifications:
18. Payroll or accounting qualification (e.g. CIPP, AAT, or equivalent)
19. Ongoing professional development in payroll or employment legislation
