Lead Fire Engineering Excellence at Firntec
Firntec, a leading provider in building compliance and surveying consultancy, is seeking an exceptional Head of Service for Fire Strategies to join our dynamic team. As trusted partners to landlords, organisations, and UK businesses, we ensure buildings are fully compliant and safe for all occupants through top-quality fire risk assessments and building surveys across multiple sectors.
The Opportunity

* Reports to: Head of Fire and Building Safety
Key Responsibilities
* Design and Implement Advanced Fire Safety Strategies aligned with BS 9999, BS 7974, and Approved Document B for diverse building types and infrastructure projects
* Conduct Thorough Design Reviews against relevant codes including BS 5839, BS 5266, and BS 9251, providing bespoke solutions to complex fire engineering challenges
* Perform Expert Fire and Smoke Modelling using CFD analysis, ASET/RSET calculations, and evacuation time assessments
* Lead Project Management of fire engineering design from concept through detailed stages, ensuring quality deliverables that meet RIBA work stages and regulatory compliance
* Coordinate On-Site Activities including building familiarisation, fire safety surveys, and compliance inspections in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
* Provide Strategic Team Leadership to fire strategy consultants, fostering professional development and technical excellence in accordance with industry best practices
* Drive Business Growth by identifying new market opportunities and developing innovative fire engineering services that meet evolving regulatory requirements
The Ideal Candidate
* Chartered Engineer status with the Engineering Council UK (CEng) or actively working towards this qualification
* Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering, or related discipline
* Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFire E) or equivalent professional body
* Expert knowledge of fire/smoke modelling tools including FDS, CFAST, and Pathfinder
* Comprehensive understanding of UK and international fire codes including BS, EN standards, NFPA, and IBC
* Demonstrated experience with fire safety legislation including the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Act 2021
* Excellent technical report writing skills with ability to prepare Fire Strategy Reports and Fire Engineering Briefs
* Strong presentation and interpersonal skills for effective client and stakeholder engagement
* Proven experience in performance-based fire engineering to national frameworks such as PD 7974
* Combined expertise in both building and infrastructure projects
