Project Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid), with travel to Ipswich and Bristol

Looking to make a real impact on one of the UK’s most exciting and vital infrastructure megaprojects? We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our clients high-performing engineering team. This is a rare opportunity to shape a nationally significant nuclear new build project, helping to deliver secure, low-carbon energy to millions for decades to come.
You’ll work within a forward-thinking and collaborative project environment, contributing to technical excellence and complex design integration within a fast-paced, strategically important programme.
As a Project Engineer in the Civil Works Programme (CWP), you will be part of the Engineering & Technical function — a key player in ensuring successful technical delivery of large civil engineering packages. Reporting to the Technical & Engineering Manager, you will contribute to the definition, integration, and assurance of the end-to-end design lifecycle for nuclear island structures.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and validate technical requirements and specifications
* Manage design risks, open points, and change control processes
* Provide support for technical assurance and design acceptance reviews
* Coordinate technical interfaces with infrastructure, site establishment, and other programmes
* Support responses to Early Warnings, Technical Queries, Compensation Events, etc.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering and design governance frameworks
* Oversee supply chain engagement to maintain design momentum and quality
Technical Skills & Experience – What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* Design experience in:
* Heavy civil structures (reinforced concrete and/or structural steel)
* Management of multidisciplinary design and integration teams
* Strong knowledge of UK design standards and practices (e.g. British Standards)
* Proven ability to work in delivery-focused technical teams and interface with suppliers
* Experience working on large infrastructure or energy projects
* Confident communicator across all levels: delivery teams, regulators, and design authorities
Desirable:
* Experience within the nuclear or regulated infrastructure sector
* Knowledge of safety-related systems and components
Transferrable Skills & Backgrounds Welcomed

Qualifications
Essential:
* Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
Desirable:
* Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) or working towards chartership
* Project delivery experience in civil engineering design
