Overview
A Vacancy at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Applications are invited for the post of a Clinical Research Fellow (ST3-5) in Gastroenterology (IBD). The post will initially be for 1 year but depending on satisfactory progress, the post could be extended for up to 3 years with an option of funding to register for a Ph.D. This post is due to commence as soon as possible for 12 months.
The post will provide an opportunity to develop specific expertise in clinical and research aspects of inflammatory bowel disease in a state of the art IBD unit at one of the world’s leading teaching hospitals.
Responsibilities
* Recruit participants to an observational study of patients with a new diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease.
* Contribute to a minimum of two IBD clinics and one colonoscopy list per week.
* Contribute to other research activities, including commercial (clinical trials) and investigator-led studies.
* Work closely with research nurses and existing clinical research fellows within the department.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application.
* Ability to communicate effectively in English (listening, reading, writing and speaking); non-UK applicants must have IELTS/OET before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
* Applicants should be at the mid-point or near the end of their specialist training and independent in Flexible Sigmoidoscopy and Colonoscopy.
* Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition is not included.
* It is a requirement for skilled worker applicants to provide necessary documentation; sponsorship information is available on the UKVI website.
Additional Information
* There is an opportunity to develop a research programme that could culminate in a higher degree (MD or PhD), dependent on progress in the first year.
* Funding for Ph.D. registration may be available depending on progress and funding.
* The duties include a commitment to the provision of endoscopy and outpatient clinics. These sessions are worked at flexible times planned one month in advance to cover leave and Consultant ward commitments.
* Applicants should be competent in endoscopy and clinics and are expected to work with the department’s clinical researchers and researchers.
