JOB DESCRIPTION Main purpose Due to the growth of our school, we are looking to appoint a Teacher of PE who will have a significant impact on the learning of pupils with additional needs. The role will involve working with all years, delivering a variety of high quality lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4, to include GCSE, BTEC and Sports leader qualifications. The successful candidate will work in a secure and supportive environment that helps pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties overcome their challenges. The position requires a candidate who can build relationships with children with SEMH difficulties and work in collaboration with colleagues to create an inclusive and supportive environment that is conducive to learning. The teacher and students benefit from small class sizes that help nurture achievement. Duties and responsibilities Design and implement PE lessons that promotes academic progress for all students Ensure that the PE curriculum is well-planned, sequenced, and relevant to the needs of Impact North West Schools students Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PE lessons, making adjustments as necessary to improve student outcomes Monitor and assess student progress in PE, using data to inform teaching strategies and interventions Identify where pupils have learning gaps or are not making the expected progress, and make sure interventions target these. Establish positive working relationships among colleagues, modelling effective team working and support. Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment, using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches Set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds and abilities. Work collaboratively with pastoral teams to address barriers to learning and promote emotional resilience Organise enrichment activities to inspire students and foster a love of learning ___________________________________________________________________________ PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualifications and training Good honours Degree QTS/QTLS/PGCE Evidence of CPD relevant to this job role Experience Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the PE curriculum, including current best practices and research. Previous roles teaching SEHM students is desirable. Skills and knowledge An ability to be flexible in the subjects that are taught. Excellent teaching and assessment skills, with the ability to adapt to the needs of SEMH students Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families Data analysis and interpretation skills, to use assessment information to inform teaching and learning Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to share best practises with colleagues Ability to foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment, using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively To follow our safeguarding policy and ensure all students are safe at all times.
