999 Clinical Supervisor – Crawley HQ. Full time and part time positions available. South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) aims to provide caring, high quality and efficient urgent and emergency care services.
We are a 4,000+ workforce serving 4.9 million people across Kent, Surrey, Sussex and North East Hampshire, handling over 1 million 999 calls and 1 million NHS 111 calls each year.
We would like to hear from Band 6 Paramedics and Nurses with experience in acute medicine/emergency department, primary care and community response teams who would like to join a dynamic team specialising in telephone triage for urgent and emergency care. Interviews will be held on Thursday 11th September at Crawley HQ, Crawley, Sussex RH10 9BG.
South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit Clinicians to work in our Integrated Care (999/111) Emergency Operations Centres.
Responsibilities
* Work within the multi-disciplinary clinical team in our contact centres in Gillingham and Crawley, providing support for incoming emergency calls.
* Carry out remote triage of patients over the phone to ensure access to the most appropriate care pathways to meet patient needs.
* Provide clinical oversight of the Computer Aided Dispatch system to maintain patient safety from contact to definitive care.
* Carry out complex clinical triage on the telephone, referring to appropriate care pathways and supporting emergency crews as needed.
* Operate with an autonomous capacity in primary/urgent/emergency care settings and manage clinical workloads.
Qualifications
* Registered Paramedic or Nurse (Adult) with significant clinical practice in primary care and urgent/emergency care.
* At least two years’ post-registration experience.
* Experience in telephone triage is advantageous; experience across primary care, acute, chronic or pre-hospital settings is desirable.
* Excellent telephone communication, sound assessment and decision-making skills, and the ability to plan and prioritise clinical workloads.
* Ability to work autonomously and under pressure with strong referral and treatment planning capabilities.

Role Details
* Permanent full-time contracts
* Permanent part-time contracts
* 24-hour rotas with unsocial hours due to 999 patient presentations
* 7-day-per-week role with a variety of shifts; unsocial hours are payable in addition to the quoted salary
Training
* 8.5 weeks full-time NHS Pathways 999
* 2 weeks NHSP Training
* 1 week CAD training (Mon–Fri)
* 2 weeks EMA mentoring (shift work)
* 1 week NHSP clinician training (Mon–Fri)
* 2 weeks mentoring (shift work)
Training and mentoring are full time (37.5 hours per week) regardless of full-time or part-time appointment.
Additional Information
The starting salary for staff new to the NHS will be the bottom point of the band, except in exceptional circumstances.
You will need to be a registered Paramedic or Nurse (Adult) with substantial clinical practice in primary care and urgent/emergency care, with the ability to operate autonomously in these settings. Strong assessment, decision-making, and communication skills are required.
You will be responsible for ensuring patient safety from initial contact to definitive care and may provide support while an emergency crew is en route.
