Overview
This post offers an exciting opportunity to work within the award‑winning AIR service (Adult Integrated Respiratory Service), which includes a Royal College of Physicians‑Accredited Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service. The AIR team supports patients with respiratory disease across East Berkshire. Ongoing support will be provided by the wider Respiratory MDT and three Band 7 Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapists.
Service Aims
The aims of the service are to promote respiratory patient independence and improved self‑management. This will include support, education and often facilitation of behaviour change through therapy.
Role Description
The role is diverse and exciting – covering Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Oxygen reviews, Chest clearance, Breathing pattern assessment, Breathlessness management and exercise advice for a variety of lung diseases. The AIR team’s base is King Edward VII Hospital and the applicant will be expected to travel across East Berkshire to review patients in clinic settings, community venues and patients’ homes.
The service is working towards a seven‑day service and weekend working may be required. The post holder must have their own car or have access to a car for working hours and a UK driving licence – this is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver patient‑centred care in an efficient, holistic and cost‑effective way. Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing respiratory physiotherapy in clinics, pulmonary rehabilitation classes and patients’ homes.
Work in other designated locations of the Trust as well as the primary base, and be able to travel between sites within the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust when necessary. Flexible hours (including unsocial hours) and weekend work on rotation may be required.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Must hold a UK driving licence and have access to a car for working hours.
* Skilled physiotherapist with clinical communication and interpersonal skills to identify the needs of people with chronic respiratory conditions and oxygen users.
