Our national Innovation Reliefs teamworks with a wide range of companies, from start-ups to multinationals, supporting them with the preparation of Research and Development tax relief claims and helping you expand your capabilities and grow professionally.
An exciting opportunity to join a growing, specialist Innovation Reliefs tax team operating nationally, with flexible working arrangements. The role involves working directly with IT specialists across a wide range of businesses at the forefront of their technology, while gaining experience within a global professional services firm.
You’ll make an impact by:
1. Engaging with clients’ technical stakeholders across a range of industries, leveraging your knowledge of software and digital technologies to develop a clear understanding of the technological aspects of their R&D projects, with support from senior colleagues.
2. Producing clear, high-quality technical narratives that provide the technical justification for software R&D claims, in line with HMRC requirements.
3. Contributing technical input and subject-matter insight to software-focused R&D projects, under the guidance of senior colleagues.
4. Keeping up to date with trends in software development, digital technologies and emerging tech across multiple sectors ( fintech, healthtech, SaaS, e-commerce and data/AI platforms).
5. Contributing to the development and refinement of technical methodologies used in preparing R&D claims, supporting consistency and quality across engagements.
6. Applying relevant HMRC guidance and DSIT definitions to help identify eligible software R&D activities for tax relief, with guidance and support from senior colleagues.
7. Working collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines to support the delivery of R&D claims to time and quality standards.
8. Supporting the project teams by contributing to updates on milestones, risks, issues and project progress.
9. Leveraging digital tools, including approved AI where appropriate, to support research, analysis and documentation in line with firm policies and client confidentiality requirements.
