What you will do
* Undertake Best Interest Assessments in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and DoLS Code of Practice.
* Assess whether the deprivation of liberty is in the person’s best interests, necessary to prevent harm, and proportionate to the likelihood and seriousness of harm.
* Work collaboratively with other professionals, including mental health assessors, social workers, medical staff, and care providers.
* Provide clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations to the Supervisory Body (Local Authority).
* Ensure timely completion of assessments within statutory timeframes.
* Represent the Local Authority/NHS Trust in Court of Protection cases when required.
* Promote the rights of individuals by considering less restrictive options.
* Keep accurate, up-to-date, and legally compliant records.
* Maintain knowledge of the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019 and upcoming Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) changes.
* Contribute to staff training, development, and dissemination of best practice in MCA/DoLS.
* Apply OT expertise in functional assessment, environmental adaptation, and promoting independence where relevant.
