đ The Mission
At FLOX, we believe smarter farms lead to thriving chickens and healthier lives. Our mission is simple: healthier chickens benefit everyone. Thatâs why we built FLOX360, a system that uses Computer Vision, smart sensors, and realâtime insights to transform poultry farming. By helping farmers improve welfare and efficiency, FLOX360 creates a winâwin for birds, farmers, the environment, and people everywhere. Today, weâre watching 60 million chickens a year.
We believe we are setting the standard for animal welfare and smart farming - and weâre just getting started.
đ The People
Weâre a diverse team of engineers and entrepreneurs, representing over 13 nationalities and all walks of life - even a few vegetarians! We are brought together by a shared passion for meaningful impact. Our culture is grounded in values we live every day:
đ§đœ Empathetic Artisan - We approach our work with care, artistry, and genuine empathy for each other and our users. We lead with positivity and passion.
đȘđŒ Tenacious Innovator - Innovation drives us. We trust ourselves, keep learning, and uncover bold solutions that redefine whatâs possible in poultry farming.
𧀠Hand in Glove - One mission, one team. We grow together with patience, trust, and transparency, amplifying each otherâs strengths to revolutionise farming.
đïž Worth Building - Worth celebrating. We dedicate ourselves to work that matters, taking pride in creating disruptive solutions our users canât live without.
This is an exciting moment of growth for FLOX - and weâre looking for ambitious, humble, and purposeâdriven people to join us in building a future of smarter farms, thriving chickens, and healthier lives.
đ The role
We are seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to play a key individualâcontributor role in shaping and scaling FLOXâs data platform, based in London with hybrid working. This is a senior IC position, reporting to our engineering director with high technical ownership and autonomy, responsible for designing, building, and operating the core data systems that power FLOXâs AI and analytics products. You will work closely with platform engineers, CV/ML engineers influencing platform architecture and engineering standards. We are looking for someone experienced in analyticsâheavy or complex data domains who is motivated to turn raw, multimodal data into trusted, decisionâready intelligence for customers, at speed and scale.
This role is central to FLOXâs mission of converting data into actionable intelligence and has a direct impact on how our platform supports customer decisionâmaking as the company scales towards a Series A milestone and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
* Engineering Excellence & Transformational Value: Design, build, and operate the core data platform that reliably transforms highâvolume farm data into decisionâready datasets powering FLOXâs AI and analytics products.
* ProductionâGrade Application Deployment: Build and maintain scalable, highly available data pipelines and services with strong data quality, observability, and operational reliability.
* BestâinâClass Data Engineering: Design and optimise batch and streaming data pipelines across cloud data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, or similar), balancing performance, cost, and longâterm maintainability.
* Advanced Data Modelling (Ontology & Knowledge Graphs): Model biological, environmental, and operational farm data using practical animalâscience and farming context to enrich raw data and materially improve the accuracy and explainability of FLOXâs AI products.
* Data Platform Expertise & Optimisation: Influence platform architecture and engineering standards through handsâon technical leadership, design reviews, and close collaboration with product and engineering leadership.
