An established and growing precision engineering company is seeking a trainee Quality Engineer to support the Quality Department in ensuring that products and processes meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards. This trainee Quality engineer is ideal for someone starting a career in quality engineering within an engineering or manufacturing environment. As a trainee Quality Engineer you will gain hands‑on experience in inspection, quality systems, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement while working towards becoming a fully competent Quality Engineer.

Responsibilities
* Quality Assurance & Compliance
o Assist in maintaining compliance with quality standards to AS9100
o Support internal audits and external audit preparation
o Help maintain and update quality documentation, procedures, and records
* Inspection & Measurement
o Perform dimensional and visual inspection of components using:
+ Verniers, micrometres, height gauges
+ Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) (training provided)
o Record inspection data and ensure traceability
* Non‑Conformance & Problem Solving
o Assist in the investigation of non‑conforming products
o Support root cause analysis using tools such as:
o Help implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
* Process Improvement
o Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes
o Assist in data collection and analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities
* Documentation & Reporting
o Maintain accurate quality records in line with company and customer requirements
o Assist in generating inspection reports, FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports), and quality metrics
* Customer & Supplier Quality
o Support supplier quality activities, including documentation checks
Skills and Qualifications
* Essential
o Basic understanding of engineering or manufacturing principles
o Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
o Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
* Desirable
o HNC/HND or degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline
o Knowledge of quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001/AS9100)
o Experience with engineering drawings and GD&T
o Familiarity with inspection equipment or quality tools
Salary & Benefits
Salary & Benefits £13-14 per hour (equivalent to approx. 26-28k permanent salary); Regular overtime available; 20 days holiday + bank holidays; Pension scheme.
