About The Business Division
The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland's water and wastewater challenges. We ensure safe water supplies for future generations, prevent urban flooding, and improve the health of rivers and coastal environments. Our multidisciplinary teams provide services from advisory and feasibility studies to design and delivery across the full project life cycle.
Overview Of The Role
The Asset Management and Infrastructure Planning team is one of five sub‑sectors within our Water Utilities Division, employing around 350 people across the UK. This senior assurance role works in the Technical Assurance workstream, supporting statutory regulatory submissions and strategic planning.
* Technical assurance of statutory regulatory submissions such as annual performance reporting, business cases, business plans, long‑term strategic plans, operational performance and deliverables
* Water resource investment planning
* Wastewater and bioresources investment planning
* Strategic asset management and business planning
* Carbon and net‑zero appraisal and strategic planning
* Integrated systems management
* Data analytics and decision support tools
* Contract appraisal (NEC, PPP)
Reporting directly to the Workstream Lead, you will be an important part of our Assurance Team and the wider asset management practice community.
Candidate Specification
Essential
* Regulatory technical assurance experience linked to the water industry's AMP cycles
* Academic and professional qualifications with relevant skills and experience
* Background in engineering, accounting/economics, asset management, auditing, and technical assurance of statutory regulatory submissions including annual performance reporting, business cases, and long‑term strategic plans
* Skills in asset management ISO standards, technical audits, assessment of regulatory requirements, performance commitments, and associated schemes
* Experience delivering technical assurance work within regulatory submission time‑scales
* Membership of a professional body and/or water regulatory networks
* Capable of presenting assurance findings clearly through reports and presentations
* Adaptability to changing situations and proactive response to emerging opportunities and risks
* Willingness to undertake assignments throughout the UK, including short international visits
