Are you a resilient and confident individual with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs? We are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join a non-maintained special school in Ashford.
This school prides themselves on providing tailored support to young people with a wide range of special educational needs. From Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) to social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), they cater to diverse needs including language and communication needs, sensory processing needs, trauma, Opposition Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).
The school serves students from Reception to Year 11, with separate buildings for Primary and Secondary education.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support and small group assistance to students with special educational needs.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure the holistic development of students.
- Manage behaviour effectively, utilising appropriate strategies and techniques.
Requirements:
- Resilient and confident demeanour, capable of handling challenging situations with composure.
- Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools) desirable but not essential.
