Senior / Principal Design Manager - Design & Build (D&B)
Locations: Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow/ Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Salary: £65,000 - £85,000 (DOE)
Our client is a leading global engineering consultancy delivering complex infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally. They are seeking an experienced Senior / Principal Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary Design & Build (D&B) projects within the water sector.
You will lead design delivery on large-scale water infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, efficiency, and innovation across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead multidisciplinary teams on complex D&B projects
Manage design delivery, budgets, and programme milestones
Review and approve technical outputs (reports, drawings, calculations)
Act as the key client interface and escalation point
Support business development and bid activities
Provide technical leadership and mentor team members
Skills & Experience
Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Chartered Engineer (CEng)
Strong experience in the water sector and D&B delivery
Knowledge of hydraulics, wastewater, clean water, and pipelines
Familiar with CDM, Eurocodes, NEC, and industry standards
Experience with AutoCAD, CDEs, MS Office, and Power BI
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
