University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Sleep Practitioner role in the paediatric neurobehavioural sleep clinic.
ABOUT THE TEAM
We are a specialist centre for children’s sleep medicine, caring for children aged 1–18 with chronic sleep disorders. The team includes a respiratory, neurology and a sleep medicine consultant, a sleep fellow, clinical nurse specialists, sleep physiologists, sleep technicians, clinical psychologists and existing sleep practitioners.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
* Support lead clinicians in sleep assessment clinics either via online video consultation or face‑to‑face in the children’s outpatient setting.
* Hold a caseload of thirty patients with chronic childhood insomnia and develop individualised sleep intervention programmes.
* Work closely with families using telephone and video follow‑up appointments.
* Attend monthly caseload supervision with the senior Band 5 sleep practitioner.
* Participate in the MDT weekly clinical supervision and in the monthly service team meetings to discuss service development and journal club learning.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
* At least two years of experience working with children with additional needs and their families.
* Knowledge of child development and child behaviour.
* Previous experience with children with autism or sensory integration needs is advantageous.
* Community experience is desirable; knowledge of sleep is preferred but not required.
* Self‑motivated, flexible, hardworking and a quick learner.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* NNEB, CACHE or equivalent qualification and post‑registration experience in a relevant specialty.
