About the Role: As SENCo, you will play a vital role in shaping and implementing the school’s SEND strategy, ensuring that children with special educational needs and disabilities are identified early, supported effectively, and included fully in school life. You will work closely with teaching staff, support teams, parents, and external professionals to ensure individual learning plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are delivered with care and accuracy. Key Responsibilities of a SENCo: Oversee SEND provision across the school and ensure effective intervention strategies Lead and coordinate EHCPs, annual reviews, and liaison with outside agencies Support class teachers with tailored strategies and inclusive classroom practices Track and monitor pupil progress and share insights with SLT and stakeholders Maintain accurate records and ensure SEND compliance Deliver training to teaching and support staff on SEND policies and techniques Develop strong relationships with parents/carers and provide regular updates Foster a whole-school culture of empathy, inclusion, and high expectations Contribute to transition planning for SEND pupils Lead and manage the SEND support team efficiently Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential National SENCo Award (or willingness to complete it within the required timeframe) Demonstrated experience supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Why Join GSL Education?
