The role: As a Firearms Licensing Administrative and Enquiry Officer in our Force Coordination and Operations, you will manage firearms and explosives licensing applications from start to finish, conduct applicant visits, complete risk assessments, record statements and provide clear advice and recommendations. This role may involve attending court and requires strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities
* Manage firearms and explosives licensing applications, including personal, commercial, dealer and club licences.
* Conduct applicant visits, risk assessments and gather information to support decision‑making.
* Carry out interviews, record statements and undertake investigations, providing clear advice and recommendations.
* Attend court when required.
* Inspect and approve storage facilities, advising on security improvements in line with Home Office guidance.
* Inspect dealers, clubs and explosives sites to ensure adherence to licensing requirements and regulations.
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level (including Maths and English) or equivalent experience, with strong IT skills and accuracy in data handling.
* Experience in administrative roles, able to manage workloads independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
* Demonstrates sound problem‑solving skills, including risk assessment and applying guidance to make informed decisions.
* Self‑motivated team player, able to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve outcomes.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to produce clear reports, handle sensitive conversations and build effective working relationships.
* Must be a resident of the UK for a minimum of three years to allow vetting clearance.

Working Arrangements
