Job Title: Social Justice Outreach Worker - Mental Health Support
People affected by mental health concerns may become involved in issues leading to a Community Payback Order (CPO). Their mental health can impact their ability to complete the CPO and increase the risk of custodial sentences.
Working within the Justice Social Work Mental Health Support Project, the Social Justice Outreach Worker will support individuals in managing their mental health, which may be linked to their housing, finances, skills development, wellbeing, and support needs from friends, family, and carers.
This support aims to help individuals achieve a safer and more stable situation, enabling them to engage with and complete their CPO and to find a pathway away from custodial sentences.
The successful candidate will be registered with SSSC and work within a Change Mental Health Care Inspectorate registered service.
The role includes developing the Mental Health Support Project within Justice Social Work, with responsibilities such as:
1. Partnering with referred individuals and Justice Social Work teams to ensure safety and engagement.
2. Supporting referred individuals by working with Locality Managers and Justice Social Work Case Managers to develop and review plans, ensuring outcomes are met.
3. Maintaining careful review systems in collaboration with Case Managers.
4. Following relevant partnership policies and procedures.
5. Building supportive relationships, encouraging responsibility, decision-making, and self-management.
6. Connecting individuals to Change Mental Health services or other community resources as appropriate.
7. Collecting information and preparing agency reports as required.
8. Completing feedback and evaluation reports on time.
