The St. Luke’s Physician provides medical services in the general care and treatment of patients in both practice and hospital settings. The physician offers comprehensive medical services to patients on a continuing basis, delivers high‑quality, cost‑effective care, and participates in quality, patient satisfaction, and performance improvement initiatives.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Performs history and physical examination of all patients seen.
* Provides cost‑effective, high‑quality care based on best practice evidence‑based medicine.
* Adheres to standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by the medical staff.
* Demonstrates competency in assessment, treatment, and communication appropriate to the patient’s age.
* Communicates regularly, timely, and appropriately with referring physicians, patients, and families.
* Educates patients and families.
* Evaluates and implements patient health care needs, performs routine exams, obtains histories, manages treatment programs, initiates treatments via prescriptions, diagnostic tests, exams and procedures, reviews lab results, and plans actions accordingly.
* Coordinates patient care and makes referrals to physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, and other professionals as needed.
* Collaborates with other professionals, nurses, and outside agencies regarding patient care.
* Provides wellness education and prevents potential health problems.
* Maintains knowledge of current medical practices and skills.
* Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the network/entity and ensures proper release of information.
* Complies with network and departmental policies on employee, patient, and environmental safety and follows reporting requirements.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
Sitting up to 3 hours per day, standing up to 8 hours per day, walking up to 6 hours per day. Frequent fingering, handling, grasping, twisting, and turning. Consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds; occasionally up to 75 pounds; rarely with assistance up to 100 pounds. Rarely push and pull patients weighing up to 300 pounds in a wheelchair or stretcher. Occasionally stoop and bend. Must perceive attributes of an object through touch, and have normal near/far, color, and peripheral vision and hearing for normal conversation and high & low frequencies.
Education
Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of residency and/or fellowship in the area of specialty.
Training and Experience
Current or recent experience in the area of specialty.
License and Certifications
MD or DO – licensed by the state licensure board within the state of practice. Board Certified/Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board.
