We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Administrative Assistant, on a 3-months contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay: £14.36- £18.28 per hour Summary: The Administrative Assistant/Officer will provide high-quality business and administrative support across the service area. This includes the management of financial transactions, performance data, minute-taking, and general office functions. The postholder will be a key point of contact for internal teams and external agencies, helping to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of council services. Responsibilities: Manage and maintain financial systems, ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and guidelines. Identify and recover overpayments with autonomy to negotiate payment plans within approved frameworks. Procure goods and services through approved methods, including use of a council credit card in line with financial procedures. Maintain, verify, and report on performance data using internal systems; carry out analysis and generate reports. Provide guidance and support to team members and service users as the first point of contact for queries. Experience: Experience in administrative or financial roles within an office environment. Experience in processing payments and working with financial information. Experience within local government or Social Services. Essentials: Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent. Substantial relevant administrative experience in an office setting. CLAIT, ECDL, or equivalent IT-related qualifications. Qualifications or training in administration, finance, or office management. Skilled in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional setting. Please note: You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
